As the name suggests, you will find The Loft Cafe on the upper floors of a heritage shophouse along South Bridge Road above Nanyang Old Coffee House.
Long layout design characteristic of olden day shophouses in Singapore.
We got there early at 8.30am for breakfast and had the whole place to ourselves. With sofas strewn around, books and magazines displayed on the shelves, we settled in quite nicely away from the Chinatown buzz below.
Ordering was easy. The menu is presented in four categories : Pancakes and Waffles, Breakfast All Day (Yeah!), Footlong Flatbreads (Pizza) and Gourmet and Grilled.
The Loft Breakfast
With mostly everything served up in pairs, we had one each of everything to try. Poached eggs were nicely done, pancakes were alright, mushrooms were well seasoned, usual sausage, ham and roasted tomatoes .. the bacon could be crisper (or maybe we waited too long to dig in after all the photo snapping .. haha). $17.90.
The Caribbean – Footlong Flatbread
‘Oh .. pizza!’ was what we exclaimed when this was served. Haha! We didn’t quite read the introduction and thus missed the ‘(aka Pizza)’. Grilled shrimp, avocado and mango baked in-house from scratch and served with premium toppings. Crust was thin and crispy. This was easy to devour .. well anything with cheese is easy really haha! $14.90
The Loft Cafe is a cosy cafe and definitely a place to chill, space out and hideaway. A good place to catch up with a girlfriend, read a book you have been putting on hold or just hang out with friends. Food and coffee / tea is decent and portion size is good for 2 hungry girls.
